Ike Ellis "Better Day" (Official Music Video)

The song "BETTER DAY" is about being inspired to separate from a situation of pain and suffering, hints the name "BETTER DAY". Produced by Focus of DirtyScopeBeatz, We was thinking of the empowerment, of better relationships between man and women, the power to elevate out of situations even though circumstances may be against everything you may have, everything you may believe, what you have seen. To embody the feeling of independence, progression, and prosperity against tyranny and violence in a relationship is a powerful concept to deliver. So we hope you enjoy and learn from this particular video.  Currently IKE ELLIS is working on a project, the Cornbread album and this is the 2nd single from the album. We need your support. We thank you for your time.

Interview with Rhyme Scheme about Hip Hop, The All Black Album and More!

Boom Bap Universe recently caught up with rising indie Hip Hop recording artist Rhyme Scheme for a one on one interview about the current state of Hip Hop, his forthcoming ALL BLACK album, working with KZR Beats and more!  Read all about what he had to say.....

Rhyme Scheme, how are you feeling?
I'm feeling blessed. I'm happy to be here. Thank you for this interview.

Could you tell the readers a little about yourself right now?
I am a new indie artist making positive music with a worldwide sound.  I am working to get my music to the next level.  I speak 5 languages and have a PHD in Political Science.  Music is an avenue for me to convey my message.

How do you feel about hip-hop right now?
Hip-hop is evolving right now.  Artist such as Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Talib Kweli, and Nas are keeping hip-hop authentic. There is a lot of new talent who make the industry very interesting.

If you could change anything about Hip Hop right now, what would it be?
I would like rappers to speak about something more real than the TV screen. We need to break the cycle of glorifying violence and drug use.  Talented artist can rap about anything beside the latest trends.

Who were some of your favorite emcees growing up?
KRS-One, Nas, Ice Cube, Tupac, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and Biggie.

Who are some of your favorite emcees right now?
Nas, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Jon Connors, and Talib Kweli.

Who is doper, DJ. Premier or Pete Rock?
They both are dope but I like DJ. Premier better.

Who are some of your favorite Boom Bap Beat makers?
DJ. Premier

KZR Beatz produced your latest single "Four Letters", what other records do you have
produced by KZR Beatz?
I have several records with KZR Beatz. "Ready for Action", "Internal War", "Summer Time", and "Can't Stop".

How would you describe KZR Beatz sound?
He has a very unique sound.  It's a soulful/Hip hop sound from the 90's.

What other beat makers are you working with right now?
I'm working with Nabeyin from California and TMZ from Detroit.  They both have dope sounds.

What can listeners expect to hear on your forthcoming LP titled All Black?
All Black will give listeners a taste of real hip-hop.  I will express my raw emotions and thought patterns.

Is there anything else you would like to mention to our readers?
Make sure you check my previous mixtape Revolutionary Warfare

Interview with Rising New York Rapper Mono Bagends

Rising New York rapper Mono Bagends, recently sat down with us here at Boom Bap Universe for an exclusive one on one interview to discuss his views on Hip Hop.  This artist once worked closely with popular late 90s/ Early 2000s Boom Bap Beatmaker DR Period (the man responsible for crafting such hits as Cam'ron's "Hey Ma", M.O.P.'s "Ante Up", AZ's "I'm Back" and a boatload of other bangers!), and Mono Bagends has even once shared the stage with Remy Ma in the past!  Now, Mono Bagends has a single out by the name of "On Fire" and while this song may not be a traditional Boom Bap record, it is still hot nonetheless.  Check out our interview with the talented artist below.

Could you tell the readers a little something about you and the music you make?
I am Brooklyn born emcee who has been doing this for 12 years.  I make positive inspirational music and dance club type music. I used to make raunchy type music but I changed that up and don't even curse when I rap anymore. I believe you can do anything you want in life if you dedicate yourself.

What is your opinion on the current state of Hip Hop?
It is very watered down. There aren't too many lyricists out there anymore.

What do you think could change Hip Hop for the better?
If record labels started putting money behind people who have talent and not just what numbers they put up and how many twitter followers they have. To achieve greatness one has to take a chance.

Where do you see Hip Hop going, at least within these next  5 years?
It's hard to say....everything in the music business is cyclical. Hopefully, there will be some fresh new faces with new ideas and not just copy catting off the next artist.

Who are some of your favorite emcees from back in the day?
DMX, Nas, Mac from No Limit, Big Pun, Tupac and Biggie.

In a previous interview you stated that you've worked with Boom Bap beatmaker/ producer D.R. Period in the past, but you said that it wouldn't make sense to work with him moving forward because of it wouldn't match your current sound.... would you consider re-releasing a remixed and edited version of your old material with your new sound?
It's a possibility. We'll see what happens.

In your opinion who is iller Pete Rock or DJ Premier?
Pete Rock....both are dope.

Who is one of your favorite golden age/ Boom Bap beatmakers?
Pete Rock

Do you have any last words?
I want to thank you for the interview and let all my fans know to hit me up at any of the social media outlets and my website bagendsblog.blogspot.com. I always find the time to answer people. If you like an artist support the artist by buying there music from legitimate outlets....bootlegging is killing the music game

Spotlight: Dolo the Bandit PROJECT MONARCH EP

undefined

Boom Bap Universe would like to salute rising New York based lyricist Dolo the Bandit for his latest project, the EP titled PROJECT MONARCH!  Project Monarch is a 5 track anthology of hot, soon to be classics produced by Boom Bap beatmaker Sickness.  Dolo the Bandit spits dope rhymes over banging soul samples, putting 100% into every inch of each track.  Dolo the Bandit is certainly representing that Golden Age Boom Bap Hip Hop that's been missing in mainstream hip hop for awhile.
